Galerie 208 is pleased to participate in the 3rd edition of the 1-54 Fair in Marrakech from February 8 to 11, 2024.
It will take place in the magnificent Mamounia Palace in the heart of the city.
1-54 is the first and only international art fair dedicated to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora.
With three editions per year—in London, New York and Marrakech—as well as an annual pop-up fair in Paris,1-54 draws reference to the fifty-four countries that constitute the African continent.
For its third edition in Marrakech, 1-54 underlines its commitment to deepening its involvement in Marrakech’s dynamic arts scene.
Throughout the week, 1-54 will be offering dedicated programming, with specially designed content, events and partnerships. Selected galleries at DaDa and La Mamounia will present a selection of contemporary works by emerging and established artists. The programme includes events and gatherings across Marrakech that celebrate the city’s rich cultural landscape.
It is in keeping with this idea that we present the artists: Armand BOUA, Reggie Khumalo and Yvanovitch Mbaya.
Reggie Khumalo will be presenting his series “The New Temptation” An extraordinary and profound artistic endeavor that beckons you to explore a world before humanity’s fall from grace, a world where love, goodness, and empathy thrived. This unique showcase, offers a twist on the Garden of Eden, where the essence of goodness is resurrected and celebrated through the mesmerizing realm of art.
At the heart of this exhibition lies a centerpiece that will captivate and resonate with every visitor: the enigmatic black apple. It serves as both a new temptation and a remarkable symbol of the timeless virtues of love, goodness, and empathy.
Armand Boua will be presenting three unique pieces specially commissioned for the occasion.
Yvanovitch Mbaya will be presenting his “Kimvuka” series (which is a set).
