Romain Langlois is a French artist who is now recognized by the contemporary art world for his work in bronze sculpture. For more than fifteen years, he has also worked in clay, wood and never ceases to make innovative creations. Romain Langlois’ contemporary sculpture is resolutely organic and alive.
“I started sculpting overnight, in the 2000s”. Romain Langlois began his career at the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg. After six months, he stops, disappointed not to find the technical teaching he was hoping for and it is as a self-taught artist that he trains. He chose bronze for its vibratory qualities and its durability.
Romain Langlois draws the inspiration necessary to the creation of an organic contemporary art which is his own, in the Auvergne nature. The bronze is patinated in a concern of realism. He imitates the bark of the tree, the veining of the wood, or the rough surface of the stone. It transforms formally and substantially this nature which it imitates.
He stretches the forms and a golden substance that seems to be liquid springs from the entrails of these sculptures. Before our eyes are born precious objects that make us forget the triviality of their origins.
